Eric Snyder

Eric- you were loved and will be missed incredibly; perhaps more than you ever knew. I will always remember a million hilarious things that you said (you probably said more funny things than anyone else I've ever known) and that happened in all of the years we were friends, and some very sad times too. Words cannot express how I feel about the loss of you and there are so many things I wish I could tell you. Did you know how awesome you were?
Lately it seems I want to listen to Mercury Rev's 'Deserter's Songs' more than anything else.

shhh... no words.
If you always try to plan and prepare for things, are you really any better off? Or do you end up frequently disappointed when things don't go the way you planned because the universe is so variable and so things are mostly unplannable?
But if you don't plan, are you a remiss slacker who is going to be screwed in the end? Or are you going to save yourself a lot of energy and stress by not concerning yourself with such things and end up living a better quality of life overall?

Today I meandered around the neighborhood, as I like to do. I bought a bunch of records from our local junk/antique dealer: the stuff that excited me today was a lot of classical (baroque, romantic and 20th century mostly) and a lot of spoken word comedy stuff circa 1940s. And there was this awesome gothic chandelier that I staked my claim on. While the standard antique brass and crystal chandeliers are beautiful, they are also easy to come by. My new one is unique and gorgeous in its dark wood and wrought iron glory.

The other day my mom told me I was self-contained. I wasn't sure what she meant, and she refused to expand on her comment, so I asked her if it meant that she thought my organs were close to my body. But really, I think she was referring to me spending so much time alone, and to my unique, firm and infrequently shared outlook. Since I'm very good at socializing and talking to people, it is often assumed that I'm open and that I like people. For a basically antisocial and uncommunicative person, this is the absolute best way to avoid pryers.

I work too much.
