I need work.
I need a job/project/something that pays me.
3 different projects which all seemed pretty sure all seem to have fallen through because these "clients" are flakes who don't seem to realize that when you hire a professional, their time is worth something and that deserves a certain level of follow-through and respect.

It's been a rough week.

I had a recurrence of excruciating lower-right abdomen pain for a stint of 24 hours which has left me with a partially numb right thigh for 5 days now. Doc said not to worry but if this goes on much longer, I can't look the other way.

Mishaps in car: someone beat the shit out of the car whilst it was parked on the street. First we thought it was stolen but no. The cops thought it was abandoned because of the 3 flat tires and broken window and towed it away. Now deliberation as to whether it's worth getting back, given all the repairs it needs. Too bad Rahmin already paid the lot for the time they were holding it.

More later. Lots of pics to come.

hey kids, it's photoblog time
cause I'm too lazy and uninspired to write much right now

going backwards, backwards in time...

Rahmin perspective. Me munching carrot stick.

Monday was DJ Shakey's Thrift On clothing & stuff swap at Botanica. I think she has found the perfect formula to ensure a great time: free stuff and booze = fun for all.

and at the Thrift On, glam outfits like this are to be found for free!

and Friday was Mambo's birthday. After dinner we celebrated with the most beautiful cake.

values, shmalues
send me your lists.

For my Organizational Behavior class (abbreviated OB like the environmentally conscious brand of tampons), our latest assignment is to list our top 10 values and somehow justify how those are our values (explain what do you do in your life which demonstrates that it is a high value to you). This is my list so far (the list is there while the reasoning hasn't been written out yet):

1. freedom
2. independence
3. intelligence & thinking independently
4. self-awareness
5. justice/fairness
6. love
7. safety
8. security
9. comfort
10. loved ones (family/frendships/relationships)

reasoning so far:
1. freedom without freedom I would likely not be free to experience and exist with everything else that I value so I feel that this one has to go first.

2. independence this is the ability to take care of myself and lead my own life which allows for:

3. intelligence & thinking independently the ability to learn, think critically and establish my own opinions/values; I highly value high-intelligence by which I mean the type of intelligence which is able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, slip silently down corridors, and intuit the next step

4. self-awareness the awareness of myself as a separate and individual entity which enables me to relate to others and be related to by others

I'll relate them to my life later... or change my mind...

This exercise made me realize that there's a lot of base things that I have value before I can even begin to value things that I take for granted on a day to day basis (i.e. my loved ones came in at #10)

Things that make you go hmmm

the deserts of Brooklyn
we haven't had water in our building for 4 days now
they turn the water back on during the night
but it's been off everyday from 8:30am - 5:00pm
they're fixing or replacing a water main outside
they have the whole street dug up
and there's this sand everywhere on the street
I almost got hit by a car yesterday because I got caught in a sandstorm while I was crossing the street
they had a guy there directing traffic because it is hazzardous
and when the car almost hit me, it honked at me as though it was my fault and the traffic directing guy apologized to me for not stopping the car sooner. I think his eyes might have been compromised by the sandstorm too.

what would you do with a box?
lots to say right now but little time to say it.

When I bought my digital camera, it wasn't cause I wanted to be the only one taking pictures. I'd like some of the important moments of my life to be captured and not just from my perspective. I LOVE it when Matt hijacks my camera and I check out the photos the next day and they're both compositionally awesome and from the perspective of another.

The St. Valentines Day Massacre of Love was cool:

Got VD?
Out shopping yesterday and I saw multiple items which would have been good gifts for Rahmin but my head is in the clouds and I forgot that Valentines Day is so soon. Do I go back now?

In the meantime, I got me some stellar records: a Mr. Quintron and a Stereo DeLuxe album are the highlights.

Friday the 13th
I'm spinning this Friday. Same people and place as the party I played last Halloween. Debaucherous fun. Guests who actually dance and have fun. Whoa!!! Good times, good times.

a random cross-section of my life
What I post in this blog is so arbitrary, depending on how much time I have and what's on my mind at the moment I'm writing.

That said, some tidbits:
I just spent over $25 on a tiny tiny bottle of oil of oregano which will supposedly help my over-acidic stomach digest better. Let's hope it works. I just learned that oregano is a member of the mint family.

I drink a pot of red clover tea almost every day. It's not exciting but since it's daily, it seems significant.

Jade, the cute but edgy little girl I babysit for, just moved into a new house. Since then their power has gone out 3 times. Her mom, who writes books about ghosts, claims that there is a poltergeist in their house and apparently is it the ghost of a child.

Both Holly and Sherry recently got new cellphones with cameras in them and they have been sending me lots of pics. Unfortunately the indoor ones don't come out too well.
Sherry has been up and down California and my sister has been workin' it for fashion week (representing her publication, Teen Vogue)
A sampling:

written in the sand when Sherry finally unjoined from her parents who were making her travel with them and driving her crazy in the car.

Holly saw one of the Fab 5 at a fashion show she went to. Too bad it was my least favorite one.

pics are always more fun

while I was doing some schoolwork last night, Rahmin got happy with my digital camera. He took many many silly pics of himself. This one is the best.

and when I was done, he was still camera-happy

on Saturday we helped Amanda move into her new co-op.
The apartment is really nice and it's great to see her so happy.

Amanda possessing the light

organizing records and looking for some to put on

and on Sunday we went to have dinner at Dom's (DiFara pizza) with BJ and John.

Dominic as one can often find him.
great food off paper plates and drinking out of wax-lined paper cups are part of the experience.

last week there were huge icicles in the Beverley Rd. subway station. I managed to grab my camera and snap this just before the train pulled in.

...and we're cooler than you too

My Aqua Teen DVD hasn't arrived yet and with each passing day I become more enamored with the Mooninites.

face it
I've become a super hard-worker. A workaholic, you might say. I've always tried to do everything that I do well but now I'm obsessed with doing even more than before and doing it all better than before. I miss my friends and my leisure life. Boo hoo.

tick, tock
okay, it's 2:30am, I have plenty to do tomorrow, and I can't sleep. Although I was a child insomniac, I cannot remember the last time I couldn't sleep at night.

I'm wired. I have been doing SO MUCH, never stopping. In my late-night subdued insanity, I just made myself a list of things I must accomplish soon. These are not items as "learn to speak icelandic" but things more like "return that library book", "invoice those clients", "report passport missing and get a new one".

who knew?
apparently no one I know.

A few months back I built the Marquis Jet website. While I was working in their offices I was told that they were filming a reality TV show involving a celebrity there but no one would tell me what the show was (non-disclosure issues). Now I find out that they are featured on The Apprentice (the Donald Trump reality show) in a significant way.

Last week the nice folks at Marquis Jet called me asking if I could do some work for them this week so tomorrow I will again be working there. Apparently their website traffic went up hundreds of percents after they were featured on the show.

Inignot and Err...
are these little guys here <--.
They are my favorite bad guys on Aqua Teen and possibly my favorite bad guys ever (them and Strongbad, of course).
I ordered the Aqua Teen Hunger Force season one DVD and I can't wait to get it.

just what I've always wanted
I've been ordering stamps online because I hate nothing more than going to the post office. I've been choosing the amphibian and reptiles series and when you order them, the U.S. Postal Service offers to sell you a matching poster for an additional $12.95.
Just what I've always wanted and needed: a poster to match my postage stamps. Who buys these things?
